Why this matters

Provincial health doesn't cover visitors.

The real cost of an ER visit in Canada

For a non-resident visitor, a single trip to a Canadian emergency room can run $3,000–$8,000. An overnight hospital stay averages $5,000–$12,000 per night. Surgery for a serious medical event (heart attack, stroke, broken hip) often exceeds $50,000–$150,000. None of this is covered by OHIP or any other provincial plan for someone here on a visitor visa.

  • Emergency hospital + physician costs
  • Prescription drugs during emergencies
  • Diagnostic services (X-ray, MRI, blood work)
  • Emergency dental
  • Ambulance + medical evacuation home if needed
  • Repatriation in worst-case scenarios
Super Visa requirements

What IRCC asks for, what we provide

Minimum $100,000 coverage

Every Super Visa application requires a Canadian insurer's policy with at least $100,000 in medical coverage. Our policies meet or exceed this. Higher-limit options ($150K, $200K) also available.

Valid for 1 year minimum

The policy must cover at least 365 days from entry. We arrange 1-year policies as standard; longer multi-year options are available where the insurer permits.

Canadian insurer

Coverage must come from a Canadian insurance company. Through our MGA partner we compare plans from several Canadian insurers.

Pre-existing conditions

Honest disclosure protects your claim

Important for older visitors: Super Visa insurance has strict pre-existing-condition rules. Most policies require a "stability period", typically 90 or 180 days, during which the condition must be stable (no new symptoms, no medication changes, no diagnostic tests). Honest disclosure during the application is the only way to ensure a claim is paid. Your LLQP-licensed Crystallux advisor walks through every question with you in plain language before you buy.
Common questions

Super Visa insurance FAQ

Most carriers require the full annual premium at issue to satisfy the Super Visa requirement. However, several Canadian carriers now offer monthly payment options, you put down 25–35% to start and pay the balance over 7 to 11 months. Ask your advisor for which carriers offer this.
Most Super Visa policies are refundable on a pro-rated basis if your parent returns home before the policy expires AND no claim has been made. Submit a refund request with proof of departure (boarding pass, passport stamp). The carrier issues the unused premium back, minus a small administration fee.
Yes. As long as the visitor remains in Canada and the renewal is requested before the original policy expires, most carriers will issue a renewal without re-underwriting. Pre-existing conditions that developed during the first policy may have new exclusions, so disclosure matters.
Many policies cover pre-existing conditions provided they're stable for the carrier's required stability period (commonly 90 to 180 days before the policy effective date). Some carriers offer policies WITHOUT pre-existing-condition coverage at a lower premium, but those are higher-risk. We recommend full disclosure and a policy that does cover pre-existing.
Same day in most cases. Once you provide the answers to the medical questionnaire and confirm coverage start, the carrier issues the policy certificate by email within hours. You attach it to your parent's Super Visa application.
